Electric scooters or motorised wheelchairs.*
Anyone who is not using a wheelchair.

General access to the studio is up three flights of stairs, if you have poor or restricted mobility, but do not use a wheelchair, please speak to a member of staff who can advise an alternative route and seating.

*The electronic platform is currently being reviewed and we hope in the near future for there to be adjustments to be made to accomodate for scooters and motorised wheelchairs. We thank you for your patience during this time and ask that you enquire at box office so we can advise you of alternative screenings in the Connaught main house.

Seating – There are two wheelchair user spaces in the studio located at the end of row B & D. Companions have fixed seating in the same row.

Relaxed Performances

Relaxed Performances

A relaxed performance is intended specifically to be sensitive to and accepting of audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed environment, including (but not limited to) those with autistic spectrum conditions, anyone with sensory and communication disorders or learning disabled people. Sound & lighting of the performance are reduced and house lights are kept to half light. There is a relaxed approach to general theatre etiquette. Audio Described (AD)
Cinema audio description (AD) is a fantastic service for people with sight loss. The normal film soundtrack is broadcast to cinema speakers in the usual way, whilst a recorded narrator explains what’s happening on screen – in gaps in the dialogue – through personal headphones. All films are Audio Described if provided by the distributor. Some smaller budget films are not audio described. Please contact the box office if you would like to know for a particular film. Headsets available on visit.
Hearing Assistance

Hearing Assistance

Hearing Assistance is available in all our venues. We have two different types of Sennheiser equipment available.

  1. Over ear headphones. These use an infrared system to amplify sound- these can also be used for audio description when available.
  2. Induction neck-loops. These transmit audio signals straight to your hearing aids. Please speak to a member of staff  on arrival who can provide this equipment free of charge and demonstrate how it is used.

We recommend booking a seat located centrally for these devices to perform best. Please note that these devices do not work in the boxes at the Connaught Theatre. Touch tours can be arranged for some performances- please contact the box office if you are interested. Audio description is available for most films, please request a headset from the Duty Manager at the time of the performance or event.
