On Saturday 19 November, X-Factor winner Sam Bailey will be performing at Worthing’s Assembly Hall in a full capacity concert. So when it was announced Worthing Theatres own Jenny Milner would be supporting her gig, it was a pleasant surprise to say the least.
Jenny is a part of a company called Wings Production, who, founded in 2005 by Des Young, perform bi-annual musical theatre shows to raise money for Children in Need. Jenny took it upon herself this year to email various celebrities, asking them to record good luck messages and encouraging audiences to donate. So far a whole host of names have responded, including James McAvoy, Warwick Davis, Russell Howard and the cast of Miss Saigon. But when she approached Sam Bailey to request a message, she got a lot more than expected.
After seeing a demo of their performance, Sam Bailey’s manager asked if the company would like to support her sold out concert, to which Jenny was overwhelmed. She said: “We are so excited and grateful for this opportunity. Usually you ask for things like this and get a polite no, so it’s refreshing for someone to have faith in us when we were unknown to them. Being a very tight group of friends makes this even more special and we can’t wait to get going!”
Sarah Milner, Chris Scott, Jenny Milner, Matt Collins and Katie Silverson will be performing 5 songs from the much loved musicals The Lion King, Jekyll and Hyde, The Sound of Music, Shrek the Musical and Miss Saigon. Matt also works in our catering department – it seems we have an abundance of hidden musical theatre talent in our staff!
There will be collection buckets for Children in Need at the concert. Jenny and the team will be performing their own show on 5-8 July 2017 at The Barn Theatre in Southwick.
Best of luck to Jenny and the team!
